Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

WebJunkyard ("we", "us") operates webjunkyard.com, a marketplace that connects buyers of recycled auto parts with independent auto recyclers ("yards"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (stored as a hash) when you create an account.
  • Yard information — business name, address, phone, email, and inventory details that recyclers choose to publish.
  • Inquiry information — name, email, phone (optional), and message contents when a buyer contacts a yard about a part.
  • Usage data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security and to keep the service running.
  • Cookies — we use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. How we use information

  • To provide the service: displaying listings, delivering buyer inquiries to yards, and operating recycler dashboards.
  • To communicate with you about your account, inquiries, and service changes.
  • To prevent abuse, including rate-limiting and fraud detection.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. How information is shared

  • Between users — when you send an inquiry, your name, contact details, and message are shared with the yard you contacted. Yard contact details and listings are public.
  • Service providers — we use hosting infrastructure and, where enabled, an email delivery provider to send inquiry notifications. These providers process data only on our behalf.
  • Legal — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of WebJunkyard or others.

5. Data retention

Account and yard data is kept while your account is active. Inquiries are retained so yards can manage their sales pipeline. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Contact below); we will delete it unless we are legally required to keep it.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls that isolate each yard's data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

WebJunkyard is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
